Shelby Kennedy

Shelby Kennedy was born in Dallas, Texas in 1943, he grew up in Houston. He majored in Fine Arts at the University of Texas, Austin from 1964 to 1966. He moved to San Francisco in 1966 to attend he San Francisco Art Institute where he earned his BFA in Sculpture/Ceramics and MFA in Film Making in 1969 and 1971 respectively.

Shelby has resided in Cloverdale since 2000, he established his ceramic and sculpture studio there in 2002. Prior to that, Shelby was a student and artist living in San Francisco from 1966 to 2000.

Serpentine pebble path

This Serpentine Path of River Pebbles is at a 59 unit low-income housing apartment complex in San Francisco. This 1994 work measures 8 feet by 100 feet.

On Loc Fountain Part of a roof garden for low income Chinese seniors in San Francisco done in 1995, On Loc Fountain, a Ceramic Tile and Mosaic measures five feet by 12 feet.
Wall Niche
This Ceramic Tile Mosaic wall niche, done in 2002 measures 30 inches by 36 inches and is part of a suite of work for a private garden in Pacific Heights.
Column Insert These Bas-relief Ceramic Tiles reflecting the Pilipino heritage of folk architecture, were done in 2003 and are located at 6th & Mission, in San Francisco.
Tree Spirit
Tree Spirit is a Ceramic and Glass sculpture completed in 2004, it is four feet six inches high and incorporates bits of colored glass.
Garden Head
This ceramic sculpture was done in 2005 and is 16 inches high.
